Dipl.-Übers. (FH), Dipl.-Dolm. (FH), authorised as a legal translator by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne
I was born in Bonn, Germany, and turned my talent into my profession by studying languages at Cologne University of Applied Sciences. After obtaining an academic degree in translation I pursued a post-graduate course and successfully gained a second degree in interpreting. In 1996 I was authorised by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne as a legal translator for the languages English and French.
After working for a translation agency in Brussels I decided to go free-lance using the experience and knowledge I had acquired there. In 1996 I founded Euro-Sprachendienst Jellen, which I first managed on my own. Due to my growing clientele and volume of orders I felt that I would be able to work better and more successfully with a team of colleagues. Hence, I am not only an entrepreneur but have also been an employer since 2009.
My languages are English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, and my fields of expertise include finance, stock market, contracts, EU, politics, human resources, corporate communication, architecture and oenology. In addition, I work as a conference interpreter for the languages English and German at international meetings and events.
M.A. Translation, authorised as a legal translator by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne
My roots lie in the three-country triangle Germany-Belgium-Luxembourg, and I was born and grew up in the beautiful Rhineland. During my B.A. course in Multilingual Communication at Cologne University of Applied Sciences (graduation: 2007) I got a breath of French air in Rennes, the capital of Brittany. I also spent various short-term stays in English-speaking countries such as the UK and the US.
This shows where my linguistic talents lie – I work with English and French in combination with German. My preferred fields of expertise are health and medicine, law, (European) politics, business, human resources and social security. I learnt the tools of the trade during my M.A. course in Specialised Translation at Cologne University of Applied Sciences (graduation: 2009) with legal and business translation as my speciality subjects.
After leaving university, I gained first professional experience as a translator in the fields of market research and hospitality before joining Euro-Sprachendienst Jellen in early 2010, for whom I have been working ever since. That same year I was authorised as a legal translator by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne.
